Al-Go-Rhythm (A 21st-Century Take on a Gershwin Tune) is word-play on the famous composer’s tune “I Got Rhythm” and the modern computer term, “algorithm”. While it features the primary melodic idea from Gershwin’s tune and borrows the song’s AABA structure in various places, the tune is deconstructed with modern harmony and a through-composed form. The arrangement features dynamic solos (trumpet, trombone, tenor sax) in three distinct palettes. Recorded by the One O’Clock Lab Band on Lab 2019.
